Daily mail making up the news.

Postby admin » Fri Aug 21, 2009 4:42 pm

The daily mail is in our opinion, rather a anti-claimaint paper, which is often heavily censored.

Its rather biased in our opinion, often not just in terms of its content, but its readership.

You only have to look at the comments, and how they are rated by the readership, we usually find that to read the comments that are the most factual, and considered, you need to view all comments, then sort them by worst rated. It looks to us like the sensible well thought out comments get voted down, and the sensational comments, usually with no facts to back them up get rated highly.

Anyway, back to the point of this post....

The daily mail has published this lovely headline.

350,000 heroin and crack addicts claim a staggering £1.6bn in benefits

source

The article goes on to explain in more detail, that they actually made that figure up, based on calculating how much would be paid out if they ALL claimed, and were paid the highest rate of incapacity benefit.

There is one small line in the article, where the actual payout from the dwp is shown, and its 195 million..

That is NOWHERE near the 1.6 billion figure they invented of the top of their head.

Sadly though, the headline is proclaiming the 1.6 billion figure as a FACT.

Surely its a clear cut case of inciting hate against a group of claimaints, as the facts clearly indicate the headline is a lie.
